The Buckhorn is located on the outskirts
of historic Comfort, Texas, at the foothills of the Hill Country. A
short 30 minute ride up I-10, and you're far enough away to enjoy
yourself, but still close enough to get back in time for dinner.
The Buckhorn's championship layout is situated to take perfect
advantage of the land's natural attributes – elevation changes, clear
water creeks, stands of live oak, and, of course, vista views. Well
known as a really fun golf course that’s always in exceptional
condition, The Buckhorn exceeds every golfer’s expectations and has a
natural 100-foot elevation change.
On the front nine most of the holes are traditional and
straightforward, some are side by side, and on most holes you can see
the pin. #5 is a fun one that requires the right club to avoid
the creek crossing the fairway and then an accurate shot to a green
protected by the lake and a bunker.
The back nine seems a little prettier, more interesting, and a little
more challenging. Number 14 has a fun roller coaster green; #15
tees off from elevated tee boxes with a fantastic view of the Hill
Country (watch out for the creek crossing the fairway) and then heads
back uphill to the green; the green on 17 requires and accurate
approach shot to avoid the 4 good sized bunkers protecting it;
and #18 is a fun finishing hole with a good sized bunker
strategically placed in the middle of the fairway.
